Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will have a deeper understanding of Bali's culture, geography, and significance as a travel destination. The student will also develop creative skills through various activities related to Bali.

Materials and Prep

  • Notebook and pen for notes and sketches
  • Access to the internet for research
  • Art supplies (colored pencils, markers, etc.) for creative activities
  • Printed map of Bali (optional, can be drawn by the student)

Before starting the lesson, ensure the student has a basic understanding of Indonesia and its geography. It might also be helpful to look up some common phrases in Bahasa Indonesia, the official language of Indonesia.

Activities

  • Research and Presentation:

    The student will choose a specific aspect of Bali to research, such as its traditional dances, cuisine, or temples. After gathering information, the student will create a short presentation to share their findings.

  • Creative Art Project:

    The student will create a piece of art inspired by Bali. This could be a drawing or painting of a famous landmark, such as Uluwatu Temple, or a collage that represents Balinese culture.

  • Cooking Activity:

    Using available ingredients, the student can try to recreate a simple Balinese dish, such as Nasi Goreng (fried rice) or Sate (skewered meat). This will help them connect with the culinary aspect of Balinese culture.

  • Virtual Tour:

    The student can take a virtual tour of Bali's famous sites using online resources. They can note down their impressions and what they would like to see in real life.
