Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will learn about apples through fun activities that include art, language, history, math, science, and social studies. They will understand the different types of apples, how they grow, and their importance in our lives.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Crayons or markers
  • Small apple (real or a picture)
  • Simple math objects (like buttons or blocks)
  • Space to move around for activities

Before the lesson, make sure to wash the apple if using a real one. Prepare a comfortable space for the activities. Familiarize yourself with the basic facts about apples, like their colors and varieties.

Activities

  • Apple Art:

    The student will create an apple drawing using crayons or markers. Encourage them to use different colors to represent different kinds of apples.

  • Apple Story Time:

    Read a simple story about apples or tell a fun fact about how apples grow on trees. Ask the student what they like about apples.

  • Counting Apples:

    Use buttons or blocks to represent apples. Ask the student to count them and group them in different ways, like 1 apple, 2 apples, etc.

  • Apple Science:

    Discuss how apples grow on trees and what they need to grow. You can pretend to be a tree and show how apples grow from flowers!

  • Apple Around the World:

    Talk about how apples are eaten in different ways around the world. Ask the student if they know any apple dishes, like apple pie or applesauce.

  • "Did you know apples can be red, green, or yellow? What color do you like best?"
  • "Apples grow on trees. Can you pretend to be a tree with me?"
  • "Let's count how many apples we have! One, two, three... How many is that?"
  • "People eat apples in so many ways! What's your favorite way to eat an apple?"
