Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recount their trip to the snow by sharing their experiences, feelings, and favorite activities through storytelling and drawing.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Crayons or colored pencils
- A comfortable space to sit and talk
- A timer (optional, for timed activities)
Before starting the lesson, think about your trip to the snow. Remember the fun things you did, how the snow felt, and any funny moments you want to share!
Activities
-
Story Sharing:
Begin by sitting together and sharing stories about the trip to the snow. Encourage the student to describe what they saw, felt, and did. Prompt them with questions like, "What was your favorite part?" or "How did the snow feel on your hands?"
-
Drawing the Experience:
After sharing stories, have the student draw their favorite moment from the trip. They can use crayons or colored pencils to create a picture of snowmen, snowball fights, or sledding!
-
Snow Adventure Recap:
Ask the student to pretend they are telling a friend about their snow trip. They can take turns "being" the friend and asking questions about the trip, making it a fun role-playing activity!
Talking Points
- "Can you tell me what the snow looked like? Was it fluffy or crunchy?"
- "What did you wear to keep warm? Did you like wearing your mittens?"
- "What games did you play in the snow? Did you build a snowman?"
- "How did it feel when you touched the snow? Was it cold or soft?"
- "What was the funniest thing that happened during your trip?"
- "If you could go back to the snow, what would you want to do again?"
