Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concepts of racism and its psychological impacts, particularly in relation to African history and culture. The student will also gain skills in critical thinking, research, and expressing their thoughts through creative activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Notebook and pen/pencil for note-taking and writing activities
  • Access to the video "The Impact of Psychopathic Racism on the African Mind"
  • Art supplies (colored pencils, markers, or crayons) for creative activities

  • Previous knowledge of basic concepts of racism and psychology

Activities

  • Video Discussion: Watch the video together and pause at key points to discuss what is being said. Ask the student to share their thoughts and feelings about the content, encouraging them to think critically about the impact of racism.

  • Creative Expression: Have the student create a drawing or a poster that represents their understanding of racism and its effects on individuals and communities. This can include symbols, words, or images that they feel are important.

  • Research Project: Ask the student to pick a historical figure or event related to racism in African history. They can write a short report or create a presentation about it, focusing on the psychological impacts of racism on individuals or communities.

  • Role-Play: Create a role-play scenario where the student can act out a situation involving racism. This can help them understand different perspectives and the emotions involved in such situations.
