Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and describe key features of city communities.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and pencils
  • City community pictures or posters
  • Access to a computer or tablet with internet

Activities

  1. Start by discussing what a city is and ask the student to share any prior knowledge they have about cities.
  2. Show the student pictures or posters of different city communities and ask them to identify the key features they observe.
  3. Using a computer or tablet, explore a virtual tour of a city. Encourage the student to observe the buildings, transportation, parks, and other aspects of the city.
  4. Have the student draw their own imaginary city community, including important features they learned about.
