Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basic concepts of starting a business, including identifying a product or service, creating a simple business plan, and learning how to market their idea. They will also create a fun presentation about their business idea.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencil or pen
  • Markers or colored pencils (optional)
  • Access to a quiet space for brainstorming

Before the lesson, it's helpful to think about what kinds of products or services the student enjoys or is interested in. This will make brainstorming easier and more fun!

Activities

  • Brainstorming Session

    The student will spend some time thinking about what kind of business they would like to start. They can write down ideas for products or services that they are passionate about or think would be fun to sell.

  • Creating a Simple Business Plan

    The student will create a basic business plan that includes the name of their business, what they will sell, who their customers are, and how they plan to get their product to those customers.

  • Marketing Poster

    Using paper and markers, the student will create a colorful marketing poster for their business. The poster should include the business name, a picture of the product or service, and a catchy slogan to attract customers.

  • Presentation Time

    The student will present their business idea to a family member or friend, explaining what their business does, who it helps, and why it's exciting. This will help them practice their speaking skills!
