Objective
By the end of this lesson, Mila will be able to perform basic yoga poses, understand the importance of breathing in yoga, and feel relaxed and happy after practicing. She will also learn how yoga can help her body and mind.
Materials and Prep
- No special materials are needed; just a comfortable space to practice.
- Make sure to have a quiet area where Mila can focus and stretch out safely.
- Be ready to encourage Mila and remind her to listen to her body during the poses.
Activities
-
Warm-Up Stretching: Start with gentle stretching to wake up the body. Mila can reach for the sky, touch her toes, and twist side to side. This helps to loosen up her muscles and get ready for yoga.
-
Animal Poses: Introduce fun animal poses like Cat-Cow, Downward Dog, and Cobra. Mila can pretend to be each animal while holding the poses, making it playful and engaging.
-
Breathing Exercises: Teach Mila simple breathing techniques, like "Breathe in the flower, blow out the candle." This will help her learn how to focus and calm her mind.
-
Yoga Flow: Create a short sequence of poses for Mila to follow, like Mountain Pose, Tree Pose, and Warrior Pose. Encourage her to connect her breath with each movement.
-
Relaxation Time: End the session with a few minutes of lying down in a comfortable position, closing her eyes, and listening to her breath. This helps her feel peaceful and happy.
