Objective
By the end of this lesson, Aleksander will be able to recognize and differentiate between uppercase and lowercase letter B while having fun playing a game that encourages turn-taking and letter recognition.
Materials and Prep
- Letter die (with uppercase and lowercase letters)
- Game board with letters (can be drawn on paper)
- Markers or crayons (optional for decorating the board)
Before the lesson, make sure to explain the game rules simply and clearly. Prepare the game board with letters including several B's for recognition practice.
Activities
-
Letter Die Roll:
Aleksander will take turns rolling the letter die. When he rolls a letter, he will move his game piece to the next letter on the board that matches the letter rolled. This helps him recognize different letters, especially B.
-
Letter B Dance:
After each turn, Aleksander can do a little dance or movement for each letter he lands on. For example, if he lands on B, he can do a "B" dance! This makes learning fun and active.
-
Letter Sound Game:
Each time Aleksander lands on a letter, he can say the letter name and sound out loud. For example, "B says /b/!" This reinforces letter recognition and phonetics.
Talking Points
- "Look! You rolled a letter! What letter is it?"
- "Great job! Can you find the letter B on our board? Let's move there!"
- "When we see a B, we can do a B dance! Show me your best dance!"
- "Can you say the sound of the letter B? What does B say?"
- "Let's take turns! It's your turn to roll the die again!"
