Objective

By the end of this lesson, Aleksander will have explored the first five pages of the Play Smart Brain Boosters workbook, engaging in fun activities that enhance his cognitive skills, such as shape recognition, counting, and basic problem-solving.

Materials and Prep

  • Play Smart Brain Boosters for 2+ workbook (pages 1-5)
  • Crayons or colored pencils
  • A comfortable and quiet workspace
  • Optional: A timer to create a fun challenge for activities

Before the lesson, review the first five pages of the workbook to familiarize yourself with the activities and instructions. Prepare a cozy area where Aleksander can focus on his work without distractions.

Activities

  • Coloring Shapes:

Start with the shape recognition activity on page 1. Encourage Aleksander to color different shapes using crayons. Talk about the colors and shapes as he colors them, asking questions like, "What shape is this?" or "What color are you using?"

  • Counting Fun:

On page 2, help Aleksander count objects. Use fingers or physical items like toys to count along with him. Make it a game by saying, "Let's count together! How many do we have?"

  • Matching Game:

On page 3, work on the matching activity. Use simple terms to explain how to find pairs. Say, "Can you find the two that look the same? Let's match them!"

  • Simple Puzzles:

For page 4, assist Aleksander with simple puzzles or complete the patterns. Encourage him by saying, "You’re doing great! What comes next?"

  • Story Time:

After completing the pages, read a short story that includes shapes and numbers. Ask Aleksander to point out the shapes or count items in the illustrations, reinforcing what he learned.

Talking Points

  • "Look at this shape! What color is it?"
  • "How many apples do we see? Let's count together!"
  • "Can you find the matching pair? Great job!"
  • "What do you think comes next in this pattern?"
  • "Let’s look at this story! Can you find the circle? Where is it?"
