Objective
By the end of this lesson, Vaeda will be able to identify and name the planets in our solar system while engaging in fun physical activities that help reinforce her learning!
Materials and Prep
- Space-themed puzzle pieces (if available)
- Open space for movement
- Imaginary play (using imagination to act out planets)
Before the lesson, make sure to explain what the solar system is and how it has different planets. You can also prepare some fun movements that relate to the planets!
Activities
-
Planet Dance: Create a dance for each planet! For example, when we say "Earth," we can spin around like we're rotating, and when we say "Jupiter," we can jump high like a giant. This will help Vaeda remember which planet is which while moving her body!
-
Solar System Puzzle Game: If you have a solar system puzzle, you can take turns putting the pieces together. Talk about each planet as you place it, and make the sounds of rockets and spaceships as you do!
-
Planet Hop: Create a hopping game where each planet is represented by a spot on the floor. Vaeda can hop from one planet to another while saying the name of the planet she lands on. This will make learning active and fun!
Talking Points
- "Did you know the Sun is a big ball of fire? It keeps us warm!"
- "Earth is where we live! Can you pretend to spin like Earth does?"
- "Jupiter is the biggest planet! Let's jump high like it's a giant!"
- "Mars is the red planet! Can you make a red color with your voice? 'Roooaaar!'"
