Materials and Prep

  • Paper and colored pencils or markers
  • A notebook for notes and reflections
  • A world map or globe (if available)
  • Access to the internet (for research purposes)

Before starting the lesson, it would be helpful to have a basic understanding of where England is located in the world. Familiarize yourself with some famous landmarks in England, such as Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and Stonehenge.

Activities

  • Virtual Tour of England:

Use the internet to take a virtual tour of famous landmarks in England. Visit sites like the British Museum, the Tower of London, or the Roman Baths. Write down interesting facts about each place you visit.

  • English Food Exploration:

Research traditional English dishes such as fish and chips, shepherd's pie, or a full English breakfast. Create a menu for a pretend restaurant that serves these dishes and draw pictures of your favorite meals.

  • Create a Travel Brochure:

Design a travel brochure for England that highlights its attractions, culture, and food. Use your colored pencils to make it colorful and inviting, and include fun facts that you learned during your research.

  • Write a Postcard:

Imagine you are visiting England. Write a postcard to a friend describing what you see, what you did, and what you loved about your trip. Be creative and use descriptive language!
