Objective

By the end of this lesson, Nora will understand that friends can have different names, can be boys or girls, enjoy doing activities together, and can like different things. She will learn to appreciate the uniqueness of friendships.

Materials and Prep

  • No specific materials are needed.
  • Prepare a comfortable space for activities and discussions.
  • Be ready to share examples of friends you have and what you enjoy doing together.

Activities

  • Friendship Name Game:

Start by asking Nora to say her name and then think of a name for a friend. You can role-play by taking turns pretending to be each other's friends, saying their names and what they like to do.

  • Friendship Circle:

Sit in a circle and take turns sharing what you like to do with friends. Encourage Nora to think of different activities she enjoys or would like to try with friends.

  • Draw Your Friends:

Have Nora draw pictures of her friends and write their names next to the drawings. Discuss what each friend likes to do, emphasizing that everyone is different.

  • Friendship Story Time:

Share a short story about friends who have different interests but enjoy spending time together. Ask Nora what she thinks makes a good friend.

Talking Points

  • "Can you tell me your name? And what is your friend's name?"
  • "Friends can be boys or girls! Isn't that fun?"
  • "What do you like to do with your friends? Let's think of some fun activities!"
  • "It's okay if friends like different things! We can still have fun together!"
