Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to create a simple Lego structure, understand basic building techniques, and express their creativity through their own unique designs.
Materials and Prep
- Assorted Lego bricks (various shapes and sizes)
- Flat base plates (optional)
- Pencil and paper for sketching ideas (optional)
Before the lesson, make sure the student has a clean and organized space to build. It may help to have a few examples of Lego structures for inspiration.
Activities
-
Building Challenge:
Start with a fun challenge! Ask the student to build a specific structure, like a house or a car, using only a certain number of bricks. This will help them think critically about how to use their resources.
-
Creative Free Build:
Let the student build whatever they want! Encourage them to use their imagination and create something unique. Ask them to tell a story about their creation once they're done.
-
Color Sorting:
Before building, have the student sort their Lego bricks by color. This activity helps with organization and can make building more fun as they choose colors for their structures.
-
Structure Showcase:
After building, have a mini showcase where the student can present their creations. They can explain what they built and how they built it, which boosts their confidence and public speaking skills.

- "What story does your Lego creation tell? Can you describe it to me?"
