Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify different birds, understand the importance of nature, and express their creativity through art while enjoying a fun and active walk around Libby Lake.
Materials and Prep
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
- Water bottle for hydration
- Notebook or sketchbook for drawing
- Colored crayons or markers
Before the lesson, ensure the weather is suitable for a walk, and discuss the importance of being safe while exploring nature.
Activities

Nature Walk: Take a leisurely walk around Libby Lake, encouraging the student to observe their surroundings. Ask them to point out different colors, shapes, and sounds they see and hear.

Bird Watching: While walking, stop to watch the birds. Encourage the student to mimic the sounds they hear and to describe what the birds look like. Ask questions like, "What colors do you see?"

Art Time: After the walk, sit down with the notebook or sketchbook. Let the student draw their favorite bird or something they saw during the walk. Encourage them to use lots of colors!
