Objective

By the end of this lesson, Jordan will have a comprehensive understanding of how accounting principles integrate across various subjects. Jordan will also develop critical thinking skills and practical knowledge in bookkeeping, while enhancing vocabulary in English and ASL, and exploring connections to history, music, and physical education.

Activities

  • Accounting Art Project:

    Jordan will create a visual representation of accounting principles using art. This could include a poster that illustrates the balance sheet or a creative infographic about income statements. This activity will help reinforce visual learning.

  • Bookkeeping Simulation:

    Jordan will engage in a bookkeeping simulation where he will track fictional transactions over a week. This hands-on activity will provide practical experience in accounting while enhancing critical thinking skills.

  • Musical Numbers:

    Jordan will write a short song or rap about the importance of budgeting and saving. This activity combines music with financial literacy, making learning fun and memorable.

  • ASL Vocabulary:

    Jordan will learn and practice key accounting terms in American Sign Language. This will not only expand his vocabulary but also introduce him to a new way of communicating important concepts.

  • Physical Education & Accounting Relay:

    Jordan will participate in a relay race where each station requires solving a math problem related to accounting (e.g., calculating profit margins). This combines physical activity with academic challenges.

    Jordan will research the history of accounting and present findings on how it has evolved over the centuries. This will develop research skills and enhance understanding of the subject's relevance.
