Objective

By the end of this lesson, Jordan will gain a foundational understanding of prosecuting techniques, including how to build a case, present evidence, and understand the legal process. This will be accomplished through engaging activities that incorporate reading, critical thinking, and life skills.

Materials and Prep

  • Notebook and pen for note-taking
  • Access to a dictionary for spelling and definitions
  • Paper for creating visual aids
  • Ingredients for a simple recipe (to be determined based on preference)
  • Access to online resources (if available) for research
  • Time set aside for each activity

Activities

  • Reading and Case Study:

Jordan will read a brief case study about a famous trial. After reading, he will summarize the key points, focusing on the prosecutor's role and techniques used in the case.

  • Spelling Bee:

Jordan will create a list of legal terms related to prosecution and conduct a spelling bee. This will help him learn important vocabulary while having fun.

  • ASL Vocabulary:

Jordan will learn and practice American Sign Language (ASL) signs for legal terms. This activity will enhance communication skills and promote inclusivity.

  • Cooking a Case:

In a fun twist, Jordan will prepare a simple recipe that symbolizes building a case (e.g., layering ingredients like a layered argument). This will teach him about following steps and the importance of preparation.

  • Logic Puzzle:

Jordan will solve a logic puzzle that involves piecing together evidence to reach a conclusion. This will enhance his critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
