Objective
By the end of this lesson, Ella Kate will have learned some basic gymnastics movements, improved her balance and coordination, and developed a fun routine that she can practice and show off!
Materials and Prep
- No special materials are needed; just a safe, open space to move around.
- Make sure the area is free of obstacles and has a soft surface, like carpet or grass.
- Wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement.
Activities
- Warm-Up Stretching:
Start with some fun stretching! Reach for the sky, touch your toes, and do some side bends. This helps to get your body ready for gymnastics!
- Balance Beam Walk:
Use a straight line on the floor or a low beam if available. Walk across it like a tightrope walker! Try to keep your arms out for balance.
- Forward Rolls:
Practice rolling forward on a soft surface. Tuck your chin to your chest and roll like a little ball. It's fun and helps you learn how to roll safely!
- Jumping and Landing:
Practice jumping in place and landing softly. Pretend you are a frog jumping around! This helps with your strength and control.
- Creating a Routine:
Put together a short routine using the moves you practiced. You can include stretches, jumps, and rolls! Make it fun and unique to you!
