Objective
By the end of this lesson, Cyrus will understand the importance of oral hygiene, how to properly brush his teeth, and the correct movements to use while brushing. He will also learn fun facts about teeth and how to take care of them to keep his smile bright and healthy!
Materials and Prep
- A model of teeth
- A toothbrush (preferably a child-sized one)
- Toothpaste (optional for demonstration)
- A mirror (for practicing brushing technique)
- Hand sanitizer (for cleanliness)
Before the lesson, ensure that the toothbrush is clean and ready for use. Familiarize yourself with the brushing technique to demonstrate effectively.
Activities
-
Teeth Brushing Demonstration
Using the model of teeth, show Cyrus how to hold the toothbrush and where to place it on the teeth. Explain the circular motion and how to brush the front, back, and chewing surfaces of the teeth. Let him practice on the model!
-
Fun Tooth Trivia
Share interesting facts about teeth, such as "Did you know that the hardest part of your body is your tooth enamel?" Engage Cyrus by asking him questions about what he learned at the dentist.
-
Brushing Challenge
Set a timer for 2 minutes and have Cyrus practice brushing his teeth (with a toothbrush and toothpaste if possible) while you brush yours. Make it fun by counting down and cheering him on!
-
Teeth Song
Sing a fun song about brushing your teeth together. You can make up a silly tune or use a familiar melody to create a song about the steps of brushing teeth.
