Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify different planets in our solar system, understand basic facts about space, and express their creativity through space-themed activities.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Crayons or colored pencils
- Space-themed story ideas (can be made up)
- Open space for movement (like a living room or backyard)
Before the lesson, it’s helpful to have a basic understanding of the solar system and the names of the planets. Prepare some fun facts to share during the lesson!
Activities
-
Planet Drawing:
The student will draw their favorite planet and write one fun fact about it. Encourage them to be creative with colors and shapes!
-
Space Story Time:
Have the student create a short story about an astronaut visiting different planets. They can use their drawings as inspiration for the story.
-
Planet Hop:
Set up different “planets” in your space (using pillows or toys) and have the student hop from one to another while saying the name of the planet they’re on.
