Objective

Materials and Prep

Before the lesson, ensure that the student has access to Minecraft and understands the basic controls of the game. Familiarity with building and crafting in Minecraft is helpful but not necessary.

Activities

• Building a Structure:

  The student will choose a structure to build in Minecraft (like a house, castle, or park) and will plan the dimensions on paper. They will calculate the area and perimeter of their chosen structure, using blocks as units of measurement.

• Creative Writing:

  After building their structure, the student will write a short story or description about their creation. They can include details about who lives there, what adventures they have, and any challenges they face.

• Show and Tell:

  The student will present their Minecraft build and story to a family member or friend. This will help them practice speaking and explaining their thought process behind their project.
