Materials and Prep

  • A Pickler triangle
  • An open space with a soft surface or a mat
  • Comfortable clothing and shoes
  • Adult supervision

Activities

  1. Warm-up: Start with a short warm-up to get the body ready for climbing. You can do some simple stretching exercises like reaching up high and touching toes.
  2. Introduce the Pickler triangle: Show the toddler the Pickler triangle and explain that it is a climbing structure. Demonstrate how to climb it safely and encourage the toddler to try it too.
  3. Practice climbing: Let the toddler start climbing the Pickler triangle with your assistance. Guide them on where to place their hands and feet, and provide support as needed.
  4. Challenge and encourage: Once the toddler feels comfortable climbing with assistance, encourage them to try climbing independently. Offer praise and support throughout the process.
  5. Cool-down: Finish the lesson with a cool-down activity, such as stretching or a short walk, to help the body relax after climbing.
