Objective
By the end of this lesson, Emillia will understand the basic needs of pets and farm animals, including their food, shelter, and care requirements. She will also learn how to interact safely and kindly with different animals.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and colored pencils for drawing
- A notebook for taking notes
- A timer (or a watch) for timed activities
- Access to a safe outdoor space (if possible) to observe animals
- Prior knowledge about common pets and farm animals (like dogs, cats, chickens, and cows)
Activities
-
Animal Care Chart:
Emillia will create a chart that lists different pets and farm animals, along with their needs for food, shelter, and exercise. This will help her visualize what each animal requires to stay healthy and happy.
-
Animal Observation:
If possible, Emillia will spend time observing a pet or farm animal in a safe environment. She will take notes on their behavior and how they interact with their surroundings.
-
Role-Playing Caretaker:
Emillia will pretend to be a caretaker for a specific animal. She will describe how she would feed, clean, and play with her chosen animal, using her chart as a guide.
-
Animal Drawing:
Emillia will draw her favorite pet or farm animal, labeling the parts of the animal and writing a few sentences about what makes that animal special.
