Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify basic shapes, count numbers up to 10, and learn about simple science concepts related to colors and mixing, all while having fun with Ryan’s World themes.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and crayons or markers
- Counting objects (like small toys or snacks)
- Water and food coloring (if available)
- Ryan’s World character images for inspiration
Before the lesson, familiarize yourself with Ryan’s World characters and themes to make the activities more engaging for the student.
Activities
-
Shape Hunt:
Go on a shape hunt around the house or yard. Look for objects that match different shapes like circles, squares, and triangles. Draw them on paper and color them in!
-
Counting with Ryan:
Use small toys or snacks to practice counting. Ask the student to count out 10 of their favorite Ryan’s World figures or snacks and arrange them in a line.
-
Color Mixing Experiment:
If you have food coloring, fill a few cups with water and let the student mix different colors together to see what new colors they can create, just like Ryan mixes colors in his fun videos!
Talking Points
- "Can you find something in the house that is a circle? What about a square?"
- "Let’s count how many Ryan’s World toys you have. Can you help me count to 10?"
- "What happens when we mix blue and yellow? Let’s find out!"
- "How many shapes can you draw? Let’s make a picture with all the shapes we found!"
- "What is your favorite color? Let’s see if we can make that color by mixing!"
