Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the pros and cons of wanting to be a YouTuber. They will be able to discuss the benefits and challenges of this career path while reflecting on their personal interests and goals.

Materials and Prep

  • Notebook and pen for taking notes
  • Access to a computer or tablet for research (optional)
  • A timer for activity durations
  • Creative mindset and willingness to share thoughts

Activities

  • Brainstorming Session:

Start by brainstorming what it means to be a YouTuber. Write down everything that comes to mind, including types of content, famous YouTubers, and personal interests that could translate into a YouTube channel.

  • Pros and Cons List:

Divide a piece of paper into two columns. In one column, list the pros of being a YouTuber (like creativity and fame), and in the other, list the cons (like negative comments and pressure to produce content). Discuss each point together.

  • Role-Playing:

Take turns role-playing as a YouTuber and a viewer. The "YouTuber" can present a short video idea, while the "viewer" can ask questions or give feedback. This will help understand the interaction between creators and their audience.

  • Future Vision:

Have the student create a vision board (on paper) of what their ideal YouTube channel would look like. Include images, words, and colors that inspire them. This will help them visualize their goals.
