Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will explore various creative crafts using different mediums. They will develop their fine motor skills, enhance their creativity, and learn how to express their ideas through art.

Materials and Prep

  • Kinetic sands
  • Squishy sensory beads
  • Drilling beads design kit
  • Metallic sensory slime
  • Modeling foam
  • Paint (various colors)
  • Modeling clay
  • Table cover or old newspapers (to protect surfaces)
  • Apron or old clothes (to protect from paint and slime)
  • Containers for mixing and storing materials

Before starting the lesson, ensure that all materials are organized and easily accessible. Discuss safety precautions, especially when using paint and slime.

Activities

  • Kinetic Sand Sculpting:

    The student will create a small sculpture or a landscape using kinetic sand. They can experiment with different shapes and textures, enhancing their tactile experience.

  • Bead Drilling Design:

    Using the drilling beads design kit, the student can create unique patterns and designs. This activity encourages planning and spatial awareness as they layout their designs.

  • Metallic Sensory Slime Creation:

    The student will make their own metallic sensory slime. They can mix colors and textures, learning about the properties of slime and how different materials interact.

  • Painting with Foam:

    Using modeling foam, the student can create stamps or textures to paint with. This activity allows them to explore color mixing and the effects of different tools on paint.

  • Modeling Clay Figures:

    The student will use modeling clay to sculpt figures or objects. They can use their imagination to create characters or animals, focusing on form and detail.
