Objective

Materials and Prep

Before the lesson, familiarize yourself with some key facts about Mexico, including its location, major cities, and cultural highlights. You can also prepare some fun facts or stories to share with the student during the lesson.

Activities

  • Map Exploration:

    Start by locating Mexico on a world map or globe. Have the student identify neighboring countries and bodies of water. Discuss the geographical features of Mexico, such as mountains and beaches.

  • Art Project - Create a Mexican Flag:

    Using paper and colored pencils or markers, the student can create their own version of the Mexican flag. Discuss the colors and symbols on the flag and what they represent.

  • Cooking Activity - Make Tacos:

    Have a fun cooking session where the student can help prepare simple tacos. Discuss the ingredients commonly used in Mexican cuisine, and talk about the importance of food in Mexican culture.

  • Learn About Celebrations:

    Introduce the student to famous Mexican celebrations, such as Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and Cinco de Mayo. Discuss the significance of these events and how they are celebrated.
