Objective
By the end of this lesson, Tilly will be able to write a creative story about Australian animals, using her imagination to describe their adventures while traveling. She will learn to express her thoughts clearly and use descriptive language to make her story exciting!
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil or pen
- Imagination!
Before the lesson, remind Tilly about some interesting Australian animals, like kangaroos, koalas, and emus. You can also discuss fun travel destinations in Australia, such as the Great Barrier Reef or the Outback.
Activities
-
Animal Research:
Start by choosing 2-3 Australian animals. Tilly can write down interesting facts about each one, such as what they eat, where they live, and any unique behaviors. This will help her create a more realistic story!
-
Story Mapping:
Next, Tilly can create a story map. She can draw a simple map of Australia and mark where her animals will travel. This can include different locations like the beach, the bush, or the city!
-
Creative Writing:
Finally, Tilly will write her story! She can use her research and story map to create an exciting adventure. Encourage her to use descriptive words to make her readers feel like they are on the journey with the animals!
