Objective

By the end of this lesson, Tilly will be able to write a fun and creative story about an Australian animal she would like to meet while traveling. She will learn to use descriptive language and express her ideas in a fun way!

Materials and Prep

• Imagination!

Before the lesson, think about a few Australian animals that Tilly might find interesting, such as kangaroos, koalas, or crocodiles. You can also look up some fun facts about these animals to share during the lesson.

Activities

• Animal Choice:

  Tilly will choose her favorite Australian animal from a list you provide. Encourage her to pick one she finds fascinating or would like to learn more about!

• Animal Adventure Story:

  Once Tilly has chosen her animal, she will write a short story about an adventure she has with that animal while traveling in Australia. Encourage her to use descriptive words to make the story exciting!

• Illustration Time:

  After writing her story, Tilly can draw a picture of her animal or a scene from her story. This will help her visualize her adventure and make it more fun!

• Story Sharing:

  Finally, Tilly can share her story and drawing with you. This will help her practice her speaking skills and build confidence in her storytelling!
