Objective
By the end of this lesson, Ella will be able to identify the different parts of an apple and understand their functions in a fun and engaging way.
Materials and Prep
- One whole apple (any color)
- Her imagination!
Before the lesson, make sure to wash the apple and prepare to explore its parts together. You can also think of fun ways to describe each part to keep Ella interested!
Activities
-
Apple Exploration:
Start by showing Ella the whole apple. Let her touch and feel it. Ask her to describe how it looks and feels. You can say, "What color is the apple? Is it smooth or bumpy?"
-
Parts of the Apple Game:
Cut the apple in half to show the inside. Point to the seeds and the flesh. You can ask, "Can you see the seeds? What do you think they do?"
-
Apple Art:
Draw an apple together and label its parts. Use simple words like "skin," "flesh," and "seeds." You can say, "Let's color the skin red! What part is this?"
-
Apple Story Time:
Make up a little story about an apple. Use the parts of the apple in the story. For example, "Once upon a time, there was a shiny red apple with lots of seeds!"
Talking Points
- "This is the skin of the apple! It keeps the apple safe!"
- "Inside the apple, we have the yummy part called the flesh! It’s sweet and juicy!"
- "Look at these little brown things! They are the seeds. They can grow into new apple trees!"
- "The apple has a stem on top! It's like a little handle!"
