Objective
By the end of this lesson, Naomi will learn about the basic parts of the human body, how they work together, and create a fun art project that represents her understanding of the human body.
Materials and Prep
- Paper (any kind will do)
- Crayons or markers
- Scissors (with adult supervision)
- Glue (optional)
- Space to work comfortably
Before starting, make sure to explain the basic parts of the body, like the head, arms, legs, heart, and lungs. You can also discuss what each part does in a simple way.
Activities
-
Body Outline
Naomi can lay down on a large piece of paper while an adult traces her outline. This will create a life-sized drawing of her body!
-
Label the Parts
Using crayons or markers, Naomi can label the different parts of her body on the outline, like "head," "arms," "legs," and "heart." This will help her learn what each part is called.
-
Fun Facts
After labeling, Naomi can decorate her body outline with fun facts about each body part. For example, she can write "My heart pumps blood!" near the heart.
-
Body Movement
To make it interactive, Naomi can stand up and move different body parts while saying what they do. For example, she can wiggle her fingers and say, "These are my fingers, and I use them to grab things!"
Talking Points
- "Did you know your heart is like a pump? It helps move blood all around your body!"
- "Your brain is like a boss! It tells your body what to do."
- "Your lungs help you breathe. When you take a deep breath, they fill up with air!"
- "Your bones are like a strong house that keeps everything safe inside!"
- "Every part of your body works together to help you run, jump, and play!"
