Objective
By the end of this lesson, Naomi will be able to identify and name the major parts of the human body, understand their basic functions, and recognize how they work together to keep us healthy and active.
Materials and Prep
- No additional materials are needed; just Naomi's curiosity and imagination!
- Make sure to have a comfortable space for activities, where Naomi can move around freely.
- Prepare to engage in fun discussions about the human body and its functions.
Activities
- Body Parts Dance:
Naomi can stand up and dance while pointing to different body parts as you call them out. For example, say "Touch your head!" or "Wiggle your fingers!" This will help her learn while having fun!
- Body Parts Drawing:
Naomi can draw a simple outline of a person on a piece of paper. Then, together, you can label the major body parts like head, arms, legs, and heart. This will help reinforce her learning visually.
- Simon Says - Body Edition:
Play a game of Simon Says using body parts. For example, "Simon says touch your toes!" This game will make learning about the body parts interactive and enjoyable.
- Story Time:
Read a simple story about the human body. You can make up your own story about a little body named "Bobby" who goes on adventures. This will help Naomi understand how the body works together.
Talking Points
- "Did you know we have bones that help us stand up? They are like the strong sticks in a tent!"
- "Our heart is a special muscle that pumps blood. It’s like a little pump inside us!"
- "We have a brain that helps us think and learn, just like a computer!"
- "Our lungs help us breathe in fresh air, like balloons that fill up!"
- "All these parts work together like a team to keep us healthy and strong!"
