Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand and demonstrate movement in both personal and general space. They will learn to control their body movements and recognize the space around them while engaging in fun physical activities.
Materials and Prep
- No specific materials are required.
- Ensure the area is safe and free of obstacles.
- Prepare a spacious area indoors or outdoors where the student can move freely.
Activities
-
Personal Space Bubble: Have the student imagine they are in a bubble that they cannot touch. They will move around the space, making sure they don't touch anything outside their bubble. This helps them understand the concept of personal space.
-
General Space Exploration: Instruct the student to move around the area in different ways (walking, hopping, skipping) while avoiding imaginary obstacles. This activity encourages them to be aware of the general space around them.
-
Shape Shifting: Ask the student to create different shapes with their body (like a star, a triangle, or a circle) while standing still. Then, they can move from one shape to another, exploring how their body fits into the space.
-
Follow the Leader: The teacher can be the leader and create a variety of movements (jumping, spinning, crawling) that the student must follow. This activity builds coordination and awareness of space.
