Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to improve your reading skills by exploring the Toca Life World app and engaging in various language arts activities.

Materials and Prep

  • A device with the Toca Life World app installed
  • Paper and pencils
  • Access to a printer (optional)
  • Basic knowledge of navigating the Toca Life World app

Activities

  1. Start by exploring the Toca Life World app and selecting a scene or location that interests you the most. Spend some time observing the characters and objects in that scene.

  2. Choose one character from the scene and create a short story about them. Think about their personality, hobbies, and adventures they might have. Write or draw your story on paper.

  3. Print out or draw a picture of the character you chose. Write a descriptive paragraph about the character, including details about their appearance, likes, and dislikes.

  4. Using the Toca Life World app, create a new scene or location that you would like to explore. Write a list of five adjectives to describe that scene or location.

  5. Choose one of the characters from your story and imagine a conversation they might have with another character in the Toca Life World app. Write a dialogue between the two characters, using quotation marks correctly.
