Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to classify various Philippine animals and plants into three habitats: terrestrial (land), aquatic (water), and aerial (air). They will create a drawing or diagram to visually represent their classifications and enhance their understanding of biodiversity in the Philippines.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper for drawing
  • Pencil or pen for writing and drawing
  • Optional: Colored pencils or markers (if available)
  • Knowledge of common Philippine animals and plants

Activities

  • Research Animals and Plants:

    The student will research and list down various animals and plants found in the Philippines. They can use their memory or think about what they have seen in books or nature.

  • Classify the Species:

    Using the research list, the student will classify the animals and plants into three categories: terrestrial, aquatic, and aerial. They can create a simple table to organize their findings.

  • Create a Drawing or Diagram:

    The student will draw a diagram that illustrates their classifications. This can include pictures of the animals and plants, and they can label each one according to its habitat.

  • Present the Drawing:

    Finally, the student will present their drawing to a family member or friend, explaining why each animal or plant belongs to its specific habitat.
