Objective

By the end of this lesson, Kaden will learn about Japanese culture, including landmarks, food, and animals. He will create art inspired by Japan and practice his English skills through fun activities and discussions.

Materials and Prep

  • Books or printed materials about Japan (if available)
  • Simple recipes for Japanese food (like sushi or mochi) to discuss
  • Pictures of Japanese landmarks and animals

Before the lesson, gather images and information about Japan's culture, landmarks, and animals. Prepare to engage Kaden with questions and fun facts.

Activities

  • Japanese Landmark Art: Kaden will choose a famous Japanese landmark, like Mount Fuji or a temple, and draw it. He can use crayons or colored pencils to create a colorful picture.

  • Japanese Food Tasting: If possible, Kaden can help prepare a simple Japanese dish like sushi or mochi. He will learn about the ingredients and the culture behind the food.

  • Animal Exploration: Kaden will learn about animals that are important in Japanese culture, like the Koi fish or the Japanese Macaque. He can draw his favorite animal and share why he likes it.

  • Story Time: Read a story or watch a short video about Japan. Afterward, Kaden can talk about what he learned and what he found interesting.
