Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand the basic functions and systems of the human body.
Materials and Prep
- Anatomy textbook or online resources
- Pen and paper
- Internet access (optional)
Activities
-
Activity 1: Label the Human Body
Using your anatomy textbook or online resources, draw a simple outline of the human body on a piece of paper. Label the major organs and body parts such as the heart, lungs, brain, stomach, etc. Use different colors to make it visually appealing.
-
Activity 2: System Match-Up
On a separate sheet of paper, create a table with two columns. In the first column, list the names of different body systems such as respiratory, circulatory, digestive, nervous, etc. In the second column, write a brief description of each system's function. Match the systems correctly.
-
Activity 3: Research a Body System
Choose one body system that interests you the most. Use your textbook or conduct online research to gather information about that system. Write a short paragraph explaining its function and any interesting facts you discover.
Fourth Grade Talking Points
- "The human body is made up of many different parts called organs."
- "Organs work together in groups called systems to perform specific functions."
- "The respiratory system helps us breathe by taking in oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide."
