Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the importance of character and leadership. They will learn how to identify positive traits in themselves and others, and how these traits can help them become better leaders in their community.

Materials and Prep

  • Notebook and pen or pencil
  • Colorful markers or crayons
  • Printed quotes about character and leadership (optional)
  • Space for activities (indoors or outdoors)

Activities

  • Character Trait Brainstorm:

The student will write down as many positive character traits as they can think of in their notebook. After they finish, they will choose their top three favorite traits and draw a picture representing each one.

  • Leadership Role Play:

The student will think of a situation where leadership is needed (like organizing a game or helping a friend). They will act out how they would lead in that situation, focusing on using their chosen character traits.

  • Quote Reflection:

If printed quotes are available, the student will read a few quotes about character and leadership. They will choose one that resonates with them and write a short paragraph about why it is meaningful to them.

  • "What do you think character means? It's all about the qualities that make you who you are!"
  • "Can you name a few character traits that you admire in others? Why do you admire them?"
