Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to explore the history of paper airplanes and understand how they relate to the development of aviation.

Materials and Prep

  • Blank sheets of paper
  • Pens or pencils
  • Access to the internet or books about aviation history (optional)

Activities

  1. Create your own paper airplane designs. Fold different types of paper airplanes and experiment with different folds and shapes. Test each design by flying them indoors or outdoors.
  2. Research the history of paper airplanes. Use the internet or books to learn about the origins of paper airplanes and how they have evolved over time. Take notes on interesting facts or key moments in the history of aviation.
  3. Design a timeline. Create a timeline of the history of paper airplanes and aviation. Include important events and inventions related to flight. You can draw or write the events on separate pieces of paper and arrange them in chronological order.
  4. Present your findings. Share your research and timeline with a family member or friend. Explain the significance of paper airplanes in the development of aviation and how they have impacted society.
