Objective
By the end of this lesson, Joseph will learn about different forms of art, explore his creativity through various art activities, and understand how art can be used in everyday life. He will create his own artwork and reflect on how it makes him feel.
Materials and Prep
- Paper (any kind will do)
- Pencils or crayons
- Markers (if available)
- Any found objects (like leaves, twigs, or old magazines)
Before the lesson, make sure to find a comfortable space for Joseph to work on his art. Discuss with him what he likes about art and what he wants to create.
Activities
-
Nature Collage: Take a walk outside and collect interesting leaves, twigs, or flowers. Once back, use the collected items to create a nature collage on paper. This activity helps Joseph appreciate the beauty of nature while being creative.
-
Drawing Emotions: Ask Joseph to think about different emotions like happiness, sadness, or excitement. He can then draw a picture that represents one of those feelings. This will help him connect art with emotions.
-
Story Illustration: Choose a favorite story or make up a short one together. Joseph can illustrate scenes from the story using crayons or markers. This encourages storytelling through art.
