Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concept of half face stretch art and will create their own unique piece by stretching and distorting a face drawing, enhancing their creativity and artistic skills.
Materials and Prep
- Paper (any type will do!)
- Pencil or pen for drawing
- Colors (crayons, markers, or colored pencils if available)
Before starting, it’s helpful to have a reference image of a face to use as inspiration. This can be a simple drawing or a picture of a person.
Activities
-
Introduction to Half Face Stretch Art
Begin by explaining what half face stretch art is. Show the student examples of how half of a face can be stretched and distorted to create fun and interesting effects.
-
Drawing the Half Face
Have the student draw a simple face on one half of the paper. Encourage them to think about different emotions and expressions while drawing.
-
Stretching the Face
Once the face is drawn, guide the student to stretch and distort the features on the other half of the paper. They can make the eyes bigger, the mouth wider, or even add silly elements like extra ears!
-
Coloring and Final Touches
After the stretching is done, let the student color in their artwork. Encourage them to use bright colors and patterns to make their piece stand out.
-
Art Gallery Walk
Once the art is complete, set up a mini art gallery at home where the student can display their work. Invite family members to come and admire the art!
