Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand the importance of physical activity while camping by the ocean and engage in various physical activities related to camping.
Materials and Prep
- Camping tent or blanket
- Beach ball or any inflatable ball
- Cones or markers for setting up boundaries
- Printed pictures of different camping activities (optional)
- Prior knowledge of basic camping safety rules
Activities
Camping Obstacle Course: Set up a mini obstacle course using cones or markers. Include activities like jumping over logs (use sticks or ropes), crawling under a "tent" (blanket), and tossing a beach ball through a hoop. Time the student and encourage them to complete the course as quickly as possible.
Beach Ball Relay: Divide the available space into two halves. Place the beach ball at one end. The student needs to run to the ball, pick it up, and carry it to the other end of the space without dropping it. They can use any method they like (carrying with hands, holding between knees, etc.). Once they reach the other end, they pass the ball to the next person in line, who repeats the process. The team that finishes first wins.
Camping Activity Charades: Show the student printed pictures of different camping activities or write them on small pieces of paper. Have the student pick a picture or word and act out the activity without speaking. The student can also take turns guessing the activities acted out by others.
