Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify the main idea of a short story, recognize different characters, and express their thoughts about the story in a creative way.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Crayons or markers
- A comfortable reading spot
- A short story (can be a favorite book or a simple story created by the teacher)
- Preparation: Familiarize yourself with the story and think of questions to ask the student.
Activities

Story Time:
Read a short story together. Use expressive voices for different characters to make it fun and engaging.

Character Drawing:
After reading, ask the student to draw their favorite character from the story. Encourage them to use lots of colors!

Character Interview:
Have the student pretend to be their favorite character and answer questions like, "What do you like to do?" or "What is your favorite food?"

Story Retelling:
Ask the student to tell you the story in their own words. This helps them think about the main idea!
