Objective

Activities

    The student will research different historical periods of jewelry making, such as Ancient Egypt, the Renaissance, and Modern times. They will create a timeline highlighting key developments in styles and materials used during these periods.

  • Design Your Own Jewelry:

    Using their knowledge from the research project, the student will sketch their own jewelry designs inspired by a specific historical period. They can choose to create a necklace, bracelet, or ring and describe the materials they would use.

  • Jewelry Vocabulary Quiz:

    The student will create a list of key terms related to jewelry making (e.g., bezel, cabochon, filigree) and then quiz themselves or a family member on their meanings and significance.

  • Virtual Museum Tour:

    The student will take a virtual tour of a museum that features jewelry collections, such as The British Museum or The Metropolitan Museum of Art. They will take notes on pieces that stand out to them and discuss their observations afterward.
