Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will gain an understanding of National Princess Day, its history, significance, and how it is celebrated around the world. The student will also engage in creative activities that allow them to express their own ideas about what being a princess means to them.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pens or pencils
  • Colored markers or crayons
  • Access to a calendar to identify National Princess Day (celebrated on November 18th)
  • Optional: A mirror for self-reflection activities

Before the lesson, it would be helpful to research some famous princesses from history and popular culture, as well as their roles and characteristics.

Activities

  • Princess Research Project:

    The student will choose a famous princess (real or fictional) and conduct a brief research project. They will write down key facts about the princess, including her story, characteristics, and what makes her special.

  • Create Your Own Princess:

    The student will design their own princess character. They will draw a picture and write a short description of their princess, including her name, traits, and what makes her unique.

  • Princess Role Play:

    The student will engage in a role-playing activity where they can act out a day in the life of a princess. They can create a scenario and use their imagination to explore how their princess would handle various situations.

  • Princess Storytime:

    The student will read a story or watch a short video about a princess. Afterward, they will discuss the themes and lessons learned from the story.
