Objective
By the end of this lesson, Logan will be able to understand and perform basic addition and subtraction using fun, interactive activities. He will also develop a love for math through engaging games and challenges!
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil
- Colorful markers or crayons
- Timer (optional for games)
- Fun math-themed songs (optional for background music)
Before the lesson, make sure to set up a comfortable workspace for Logan and have all materials ready. You can also prepare a few fun math songs to play in the background to create an exciting atmosphere!
Activities
-
Math Treasure Hunt
Create a simple treasure map with different math problems at various locations. Each problem solved will lead Logan to the next clue, ultimately leading to a "treasure" (like a small treat or toy). This will make addition and subtraction feel like an adventure!
-
Math Art
Using paper and colorful markers, have Logan create a math-themed poster. He can draw addition and subtraction problems with fun illustrations. For example, he could draw 3 apples + 2 apples = 5 apples. This combines creativity with math!
-
Math Dance Party
Play a fun math song and have a dance party! Every time the music stops, call out a math problem. Logan has to solve it before the music starts again. This will get him moving while practicing his math skills!

- "Math can be fun, just like a game! Let’s see how fast we can solve these problems together!"
- "Every time you solve a math problem, it’s like unlocking a new level in a video game. You’re getting better and better!"
- "Remember, it’s okay to make mistakes! That’s how we learn and become math superheroes!"
