Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will have a fun and engaging understanding of King Hezekiah's story from the Bible, including his faith, leadership, and the miracles associated with his reign. The student will also learn how to apply these lessons to their own life.

Materials and Prep

  • A comfortable space to play games and discuss.
  • Pencil and paper for note-taking and drawing.
  • Timer or stopwatch for timed activities.
  • Craft materials (optional): colored markers, stickers, or any art supplies for creative activities.

Activities

  • Hezekiah Trivia Game:

Create a trivia game with questions about King Hezekiah's life, such as his accomplishments and the miracles he experienced. You can ask questions like, "What did Hezekiah do when he received a letter from King Sennacherib?" The student can earn points for each correct answer!

  • Role-Play Scenario:

Act out a scene from King Hezekiah's life. For example, reenact the moment when he prayed for help against the Assyrian army. The student can use their imagination to create dialogue and express the emotions of the characters involved.

  • Creative Drawing:

Have the student draw a scene from Hezekiah's story, such as the healing of Hezekiah or the destruction of the Assyrian army. Encourage them to be as creative as possible and to share their artwork with you afterward.

  • Faith Reflection:

Discuss what it means to have faith like Hezekiah. Ask the student to write down or share a personal experience where they had to rely on faith or courage, just like Hezekiah did.

Talking Points

  • "King Hezekiah was a great leader who trusted God during tough times. Can you think of a time when you had to trust someone?"
  • "Hezekiah faced a powerful enemy, but he prayed for help. What do you think prayer means to you?"
  • "One of the miracles during Hezekiah's reign was when God saved Jerusalem from the Assyrians. Why do you think God helped him?"
  • "Hezekiah also showed how important it is to listen to wise advice. Who do you think is a wise person in your life?"
  • "After Hezekiah was healed, he praised God. How do you show gratitude for the good things in your life?"
