Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencil or pen

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Introduction: Begin by discussing with the student what construction vehicles are and their importance in building things. Show pictures or videos of different construction vehicles to engage their interest.
  2. Brainstorming: Ask the student to think about what they already know about construction vehicles. Write down their ideas on a piece of paper or a whiteboard.
  3. Vocabulary Building: Introduce new vocabulary words related to construction vehicles such as bulldozer, crane, excavator, dump truck, etc. Write each word on the board and explain their meanings.
  4. Descriptive Paragraph: Instruct the student to choose one construction vehicle they find most interesting. Ask them to write a descriptive paragraph about the vehicle, including its appearance, purpose, and any other details they find important. Encourage them to use the new vocabulary words they learned.
  5. Review and Edit: After the student has completed their paragraph, review it together. Discuss any areas that may need improvement and help them make necessary edits.
  6. Final Draft: Once the paragraph is revised, have the student write a final draft on a separate sheet of paper.
