By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the importance of recycling bottles and cans, learn how to identify recyclable materials, and creatively think of ways to reuse these items in fun projects.
Materials and Prep
- Empty plastic bottles
- Empty aluminum cans
- Paper and markers for drawing
- Access to a recycling guide (can be printed from the internet)

Activity 2: Art Project
Using the collected bottles and cans, create a fun art project! You can paint them, turn them into planters, or even make a sculpture. Let your imagination run wild!
-
Activity 3: Recycling Relay
Set up a relay race where you have to sort items into recycling bins. Set a timer and see how fast you can sort different materials. This can be done with siblings or parents for added fun!
