Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Colored pencils or markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Access to the text of "A Christmas Carol" (can be read aloud)
  • Optional: Christmas music for background ambiance

Before the lesson, make sure to read or listen to a summary of "A Christmas Carol" so that Daniella and Alisia are familiar with the main characters and plot. Prepare a cozy and festive environment to set the mood for the lesson.

Activities

  • Story Time: Read aloud a simplified version of "A Christmas Carol" or summarize the main points. Discuss the characters, especially Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, and the three spirits. This will help them understand the story better.
  • Character Drawings: After discussing the characters, Daniella and Alisia can choose their favorite character from the story and create a drawing of them. They can use colored pencils or markers to add details and colors that represent the character's personality.
  • Spirit of Christmas Collage: Each student can create a collage that represents the "spirit of Christmas" as seen in the story. They can cut out pictures from magazines or draw images that reflect kindness, generosity, and family.
  • Acting Out Scenes: Choose a short scene from "A Christmas Carol" and act it out. This will help them engage with the story in a fun way. They can use simple props or costumes from around the house.
