Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to practice and demonstrate various movement skills and sequences using different body parts. They will learn to coordinate their movements and express creativity through physical activity.
Materials and Prep
- No special materials are needed for this lesson.
- Ensure there is enough space for movement, either indoors or outdoors.
- Prepare to encourage the student to use their imagination and creativity in movements.
Activities
-
Animal Movements:
Ask the student to move like different animals. For example, they can hop like a frog, waddle like a duck, or crawl like a bear. Encourage them to use their arms and legs in different ways!
-
Body Part Dance:
Play a fun game where you call out different body parts and the student has to dance while using only that body part. For example, "Dance with your knees!" or "Wiggle your fingers!"
-
Follow the Leader:
Take turns being the leader. The leader can create a sequence of movements using different body parts, and the other person must follow. This can include jumping, spinning, or clapping!
-
Movement Freeze:
Play music and have the student move around freely. When the music stops, they must freeze in a funny pose using a specific body part, like balancing on one foot or stretching their arms wide.
Talking Points
- "Can you show me how a frog jumps? Let's see those big jumps!"
- "What happens when we only use our arms to dance? Can you make a funny dance with just your arms?"
- "Let's take turns being the leader! What cool moves can you show me?"
- "When the music stops, can you freeze in a silly pose? Show me your best pose!"
- "How does it feel to move your body in different ways? Is it fun to be a silly animal?"
